"Bobber Bill" Abeler
Executive Director
“Bobber Bill" started his time as Camp Director in 1986. His favorite assignments include welcoming summer youth campers, hosting family and senior adult events, and taking kids fishing.
On April Fool’s Day of 1986 Bill came “home” to Camp Lebanon, returning to lead the ministry that meant the world to him and his family in his growing up years going back to 1966. Raised in Anoka, MN, Bill graduated from Northwestern College (St. Paul) and then earned his Master of Divinity from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL). In addition to developing and communicating Camp’s vision, Bill overseas the program ministries for families, men, and senior adults. “Bobber Bill’s” favorite assignments include welcoming summer youth campers, hosting family and senior adult events, and taking kids fishing. Bill is married to Lisa, his best friend and Camp partner. God blessed them with three amazing children: Monte, Marie, and Matthew. Bill’s hobbies start with fishing, teaching Bible to grade schoolers, and organizing other people’s fun. His favorite verse: “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us that we should be called ‘children of God’ – and that is what we are!” (I John 3:1)

Lisa Abeler
Director of Women's Ministries
Lisa began serving at Camp in 1986, alongside her husband, "Bobber Bill." Famous for her "woo-hooing", she loves connecting with women and inspiring others to follow Christ.
Lisa (aka Mrs. Bobber Bill!) grew up on a dairy farm in South Dakota. A graduate of Northwestern College (UNW-SP), Lisa has been serving together with Bill at Camp since 1986. Lisa
 coordinates fall and winter women’s retreats, quilting & scrapbooking events, and the Mother/Daughter Retreat. She also dreams of starting “language exploration and exchange” camps in Spanish and Chinese. She loves “connections” and is passionate about missions and inspiring women to find a deep and satisfying love for God’s Word. Lisa and Bill have three grown children: Monte, Marie & Matthew. Lisa enjoys “woo-hooing” at ball games, fishing, hiking, music, and a good book. She also loves “speed scrabble” and getting snowed in with her family

Aaron Feltman
Director of Guest Ministries
Aaron began his time at Camp in 2007. He oversees all aspects of Camp's ministries with guest groups.
Aaron oversees all aspects of Camp’s ministries to the 60+ guest groups that rent Camp Lebanon’s facilities each year. He is also in charge of donor management. Aaron joined the team in September of 2007, coming from Sioux Falls Seminary (Sioux Falls SD) after a couple of youth pastorates. In 2011 he earned his Master of Divinity in Youth and Family Ministries. Aaron and wife, Jaci, (Camp’s sales service manager) make their home in Sauk Centre with their four beautiful kids (Lauren, Anna, Hudson and Jackson). A former youth pastor and video producer, Aaron loves to minister to the groups on site and is also active in the youth ministry and praise team at his church.

Rich Olson
Director of Youth Ministries
Rich has a long history with Camp, but started his current role in 2014. As a "WOO", he's the perfect guy for his job!
In a nutshell, Rich would say he is a guy who loves Jesus, coffee, talking about Jesus over coffee, music, people, and ultimate Frisbee. Rich’s history with Camp Lebanon is a long one. He first visited camp as a toddler and has not stopped coming back. He worked through the entire Junior Staff program and worked six summers on Senior Staff before becoming the Director of Youth Ministries. Rich married Anna Olson in May of 2015. Rich has a degree in Theology from Ottawa University. As well as having a passion for youth and for camping ministry, he has a deep passion for music and worshiping God through song. He is excited to see the progression of God’s sovereign plan for his life!

Phil Gerth
Facilities Manager
Phil has been leading Camp's ministry of maintenance since 1989. He models a servant's heart and has a huge impact on Camp.
Phil calls his department the “Ministry of Maintenance” and he’s been overseeing maintenance Camp’s grounds, buildings, and equipment as well as supervising full time and part-time maintenance staff since 1989. His specialty is working in partnership with volunteer groups, summer program staff, service personnel, and core staff by modeling a servant’s heart. Phil and wife, Jan, have four married children who have blessed them with seven grandchildren.

Jim Flaa
Food Service Manager
Better known as "Chef Jim, he began his full time work at Camp in 2004.
Jim has a long history at Camp Lebanon, first as a camper in the 1960’s and then as summer staff in 1972-73. Jim came to work at camp as full time food service manager in 2004, bringing with him over 35 years of food service experience. Jim and his wife, Sylvia, live in Grey Eagle and they have three children: Anna, Sam, and Ruthie.

Marc Nelson
Business & Technology Manager
Marc began his time at Camp in 1999 and plays a key role in managing Camp's financials and technology.
For Marc, ministry is all about impacting and changing lives for Christ. His first ministry, since signing on at Camp in 1999 to help organize its books and harness technology, has been to serve Christ with the gifts he’s been given. His overriding vision is to bring focus and clarity to Camp’s financial position. His passion is to research the tools and technologies that will best serve to enhance God’s Ministry. “For me, the many ways in which lives are impacted and changed is confirmation that God is at work here!” Marc said. “And knowing that I somehow have had a small part in all of this brings joy to my heart!”

Monte Abeler
Marketing & Church Relations
Monte, "Marketing Guy," grew up at Camp, but officially joined the full-time staff team in 2016. Stationed in the Twin Cities, his mission is connect with churches and get the word out about Camp.
Born and raised in Upsala (MN), Monte is a 2012 graduate of the University of Northwestern – St. Paul where he earned his degree in Marketing while minoring in Accounting and Bible. Prior to being hired at Camp, he worked as an Account Executive for Ewald Consulting in St. Paul for four years where he served as the Executive Director of four professional associations providing leadership in budgeting, marketing, member engagement, event planning, and board administration. These experiences prepared him well for his new position at Camp Lebanon, which focuses on church and donor connections, marketing, social media, and program ministries. “I’m excited to use my God-given skills to improve the reach of Camp Lebanon as it looks to form life-giving partnerships with churches, ministries, and guests as a whole.” Monte resides in the metro area, giving Camp Lebanon its first ever full-time presence in the Twin Cities.

Linda Langner
Housekeeping Supervisor
Linda has helped Camp stay clean since 2000 and has an amazing ability of making Camp a wonderful experience for all.
Married to Andy, Linda has three grown children (Jennifer, Stacey and Jacob) and two precious grandchildren. They live about 3.5 miles from Upsala on a farm in the country. “I love working at Camp Lebanon because it’s a peaceful place to work and I love making our guests feel welcomed with the clean rooms available to them,” she said.

Abigail Nagy
Registrar
Abigail started working at Camp in 2014 and touches the life of every camper through her role.
Abigail’s move to Camp Lebanon is just the beginning of another exciting season in her life and she is thrilled to see God at work here. Having grown up in camp ministry, she enjoys discovering “camp connections” as God brings people together and works through them to tell His Story. Returning to Minnesota after three years working at her childhood camp in Ohio, Abigail is grateful for the opportunity to partner with the Camp Lebanon ministry team. She did not expect God to bring her back to Minnesota after graduating from Crown College, but she does not mind being surprised by God’s plans and looks forward to continuing to discover what He has in store for her at Camp Lebanon.

Hayley Peterson
On-Site Sales Manager
Camp has always been like a second home to Hayley, and she joined the full-time team in 2016. She is playing a huge role in managing the Trading Post and helping with accounting.
Growing up nearby in Upsala, Camp has always been like a second home for Hayley. She was a camper from age 5 to Senior High, worked in the Trading Post during high school job, and was a part of the Summer staff team during the summer of 2013. After graduating from NDSU with a major in Business Management, she interned for Cru and gained a passion for ministry. It is that passion that led her back to Camp Lebanon. Her role consists of accounting, managing on-site sales, assisting in the office, and providing support in women’s ministry. Her favorite part of her job is working in the Trading Post and she also loves being in the business field with the purpose of bringing others to Christ. She also loves coffee, traveling, experiencing different cultures, conversations, mentoring, lakes, and sunshine.

When Tony isn't cooking, he's singing for all to hear in the kitchen.
Craig Knudtson
Facilities Assistant
Craig start working at Camp in 2013 and has thought about being a Camp caretaker since he was in high school.
Craig enjoys being back in the Christian camp setting, which God used to make a huge impact in his life. As a ninth grader he encountered the truth and love of Christ at his church camp. Looking back on that experience, he said, “It was during those high school and early young adult years I often thought of being a camp caretaker, and now 35 years later it’s a dream fulfilled.” Craig is a husband to one and father to six. His family moved from the Twin Cities to the Upsala area in 2001, and they love it! He also enjoys singing bluegrass gospel music with the family, milking a few cows, and riding motorcycle!

Vern plays a significant role in helping Camp's facilities and grounds look clean and fresh.
Anna Olson
Ministry & Marketing Assistant
Anna started on at Camp in 2014 and loves helping out at her favorite place in the world.
Anna is so excited to be working at her favorite place in the world. Camp Lebanon has been on Anna’s heart since she was a shy little Super Kid. Her dream was always to be on Sr. Staff and to take part in the fellowship of a close-knit community serving together. She worked on Jr. Staff throughout high school, and she was a part of the summer staff team from 2008 to 2012. Even after that, she kept coming back to her home away from home. Though she seems quiet and reserved at first, she loves to sit down and talk about books and movies and Jesus—especially if those discussions can take place over coffee or tea! She graduated from Northwestern College (UNW-SP) with a degree in English, part of her quest to write children’s novels someday. She married her best friend, Rich Olson, in May 2015 and can’t wait to see where God will take them next!
