We are already on Day 3 of Junior High 2! These energetic Junior Highers have truly made this week so fun for everybody. Campers have not hesitated to jump in and participate in all the fun that Camp has to offer, and it has been such a joy to witness their smiles and laughter all around Camp! These last three days have been an absolute blast and we are looking forward to the next two days left with these wonderful campers!
On Monday, we started the day off with our Camp Picture. Then we raised the flag, sang about a little cabin in the woods, and learned the first part of our Memory Verse. After breakfast, we cleaned up our cabins and then found a spot around Camp to do our TAG Time. TAG Time is a daily practice all campers and staff participate in at Camp Lebanon. It is a set aside time for us to focus on good and be in direct communication with Him without any distractions. Next we split up for Men’s and Women’s Chapel where we heard from our lead counselors for the summer, Elena Mendoza and Grant Janowiec. Following Morning Chapel, campers headed out for some Cabin Time, and then had Free time til Lunch.
During Mail Call, we watched the Camp Lebanon Ninjas dance to welcome in the mail. After beautiful Kung-Fu battle, we went to Clinics and Seminars and heard from staff about topics they are passionate about. Options yesterday included Boundaries, Choosing Friends, Spiritual Warfare, Just Dance & Worship, Revelation, and Wilderness Survival. Then we headed into Free time where campers swam, went to the Craft Room, visited the Trading Post, and had lots of fun! After Dinner, we played Capture the Cones–a new game at Camp Lebanon this year! Before Chapel, we had Evening Free time and then after worship and a message from our speaker, Jon Finke, we went to bed.
This morning, we had a sunny Polar Dip and Flag Raising before breakfast. After cleaning our cabins, we found a spot for TAG Time, then girls headed to the Main Hall and boys gathered in the Dining Hall for Morning Chapel. After Chapel, campers got together for cabin time. Next we had Morning Free time until Lunch. At Line-up some of our counselors played ‘Musical Bucket’ and got lake water dumped on their head! After Lunch, we had Mail Call and then Clinics and Seminars. Today’s options included Apologetics, Relationship vs. Religion, Suffering, Art, Biblical Manhood and Biblical Womanhood. Then we enjoyed Free time until Dinner.
TAKE CAMP HOME
Ask your camper about what they learned in Chapel last night. Can they tell you how people are like sheep? Why do we need a shepherd to lead and protect us? How does God fill that role as our Good Shepherd?
After eating, campers got ready for the Volleyball Tournament. Everyone gathered at the steps for rules, then walked up to the North 40 Together. We had lots of fun. When cabins weren’t in a match, they could go down the Slip’n’Slide, play 9-Square-in-the-Air, throw frisbee, or cheer on other cabins! Our winners for the girls was Romania Cabin and our winner for the boys was India Cabin. Tomorrow during Free time, the two winning cabins will play a final match on the Sand Volleyball Court to determine the ultimate champion for 2024 Junior High 2. After the tournament, we came back to Main site for Free time. Campers enjoyed 4-Square, Octoball, and Newcomb in the Hub. We also opened the Canteen so everyone could get a little extra energy before Chapel. Now campers are hearing from our speaker, Jon Finke. After Chapel, we will head back to our our cabins for devotional time, and then say ‘good night!’
