Speaker Spotlight – Maryn Post: Take TWO!

Maryn Post is the current Childrens Director at Revive Church in Brooklyn Park, MN. She lives in Brooklyn Park with her husband, Justin. Maryn and Justin have two cats: Princess Tate who is 8 years old, and Reya who is almost one! Maryn got connected with Camp Lebanon in between her years of college when a friend recommended she come counsel. Maryn was a counselor during Summer 2013 and LIT Supervisor Summer 2014.

Maryn is our speaker for Super Kids 3, this is her second time speaking at Camp Lebanon this summer! She is an alumni staff member and return speaker (2024 Super Kids 2 and in previous years). We got the opportunity to sit down with her and ask some questions about her message for the week, what Camp Lebanon means to her, and what God is currently doing in her life.

What is the message you are presenting this week?

“I am teaching kids about how Jesus is our Good Shepherd and we are His sheep; why need a Good Shepherd. All of us like sheep have gone astray, every one of us has turned tho their own way. We need the Good Shepherd to lead us back to Himself and to His flock. If we choose to follow Him and be apart of His flock, then we get the joy of learning to listen to His voice in our lives and let His voice guide us and show us the way He has planned for us.”

What place does Camp hold in your life?

“Camp truly is a Meeting Place with God. Some of the biggest turning points in my life, when I was able to hear from the Lord most clearly, when He spoke to me, were while I was here at Camp. I had been living in California between 2017-2020. The summer I came back in 2019, while I was speaking here at Camp, was the week God called me back to Minnesota. He made that all happen. Every time I return, it helps me see a glimpse of, even imperfectly, what heaven is gonna look like. I get to see the body of Christ working together–I’ll be it imperfectly. It is such an amazing representation, and to be apart of that is such a blessing and a privilege. Camp Lebanon is a place where God reigns and I always want to be apart of His kingdom’s works.”

What is your favorite Bible verse or passage?

“My favorite Bible verses are Proverbs 3:5-6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.”

I am a planner, I like to have plans in place. I like to take charge of things, to lead the charge in certain things. I love this passage because it is such a good reminder to me, to not lean on my own understanding but to trust in God and His ways even when they don’t make sense–as they often don’t. I mean, look at scripture, there’s so many examples of times when God asks people to do crazy, crazy things that made absolutely no sense. If God is truly the Lord of our lives, then we need to do and trust Him in whatever He asks us to do. In whatever He calls us to do, He will make the way clear. This passage has been an anchor for me in times of difficulty, and in times of the unknown.”

What is God presently calling you to pursue?

“Right now, God has me where I already am, not in the next phase or stage of life yet. I believe there is still more he wants to accomplish with where I am at as a childless, married woman. God specifically gave me gifts and talents in working with children. My purpose in life is to speak to kids in Truth and in love about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to build His kingdom from the ground up. In the sense of, from children onward because that is the best time to reap the harvest. When kids are between the ages of 5-12 years old. That is my purpose, that is what God has called me to do, that is my why, this is why I get up and why I do what I do: Jesus Christ’s kingdom is going to continue, He will always have a remnant. I believe that is largely made up of present day children, and I get to be apart of it.”

What is your favorite Camp memory?

“My favorite Camp memory is all of them. In the sense that, the comradery that I had with fellow counselors, and with LITers, the bonds and relationships I’ve formed here–that’s what its’s all about. It is just sweet, so much laughter, so many jokes, so many great times, so many snafus and ups and downs. The end of summer 2013 I jumped into the lake at night with some other counselors, that was a blast.”

Thank you Maryn for being our 2024 Super Kids 3 speaker and coming to speak to a new group of campers. We had so much fun getting to know more about you! Check out the link below for more photos from the week.
