Starting off our season of Summer Youth & Family Camps was a beautiful Memorial Weekend with almost 40 families! The holiday weekend was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the end of the school year, and a chance for families to get away from the crazy of life and “retreat” to a meeting place with God.
The lake was on the cold side, but that didn’t stop people from taking the Polar Plunge every morning, or getting out in a boat, or fishing. The weather was gorgeous! There was plenty of sunshine as campers enjoyed the endless fun of laser tag, zipline, and outdoor recreation like hikes, disc golf, and soccer on the North 40 field. We had a Homerun Derby on the Legends Wiffleball Field, a carpetball tournament, and the traditional Medallion Hunt!
Our speaker for the weekend was Brandon Bellomo, and while he spoke to adults in the mornings, kids split off into different Kids Club groups. Parents had a chance to learn with other adults, while the kids got to explore Camp and have fun with the volunteers and staff!
Finally, it wouldn’t be Memorial Weekend Family Camp if there wasn’t a celebration and service of remembrance. On Monday morning, there was a service to honor those who have given their lives in service to the United States. Bill asked some campers to do some readings, and a group of campers sang in a choir on the stage of the Steps of Faith.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2019 Memorial Weekend Family Camp! Save the date for Memorial Weekend Family Camp, May 22-25, 2020!
