Welcome Scott Shoemaker!

Camp would like to introduce you to Scott Shoemaker, Camp's new Facilities Manager! Here are seven questions that will help you get to know him just a little bit.

Join us in welcoming Scott Shoemaker to the Camp Lebanon team! Scott brings a blend of skill, experience, kindness, and passion for the ministry of Jesus Christ. We are thrilled and blessed to have him as the new Facilities Manager. He and his family are already making an impact at Camp, and we can’t wait for you to meet them!

As Scott takes over leadership of facilities, Shane Hollenbeck (Scott’s predecessor) will transition to the role of Director of Ministries here at Camp. We’ll write more on the staff transitions next month, but for now here are seven (7) get to know you questions about Scott.

Introduce yourself! Who are you? Can you tell us a little about your family?

My name is Scott!  I am blessed to be coming to camp with my beautiful wife Cheryl,  and our four kids, Isaac (16), Nolan (15), Anna (10) and Silas (8).  Cheryl and I spent the first half of our 22 year marriage living in Minneapolis.  God, then, called us to Covenant Pines Bible Camp, where I served as the Maintenance Director for 8-1/2 years. In the summer of 2020, we were led to move to Aitkin, where I worked as a carpenter and where we could be involved with our church.

We love getting into the outdoors.  A perfect day in our family involves a long morning of games and then getting into the outdoors, including walking, biking and four wheeling.

What is your Camp Lebanon story? (how did you find out about Camp?)

My Camp Lebanon story isn’t as extensive as some.  I remember as a teenager coming here for a weekend church retreat.  A couple of months ago, I was content working as a carpenter.  Then, a close friend of mine sent me a link for the job posting.  That was the beginning of God leading us out to Lebanon.  Through a lot of prayer, God led us here.

What are you most excited about in your position on the Camp team?

We are excited to be a part of this ministry, that God has blessed.  The phrase Camp Lebanon uses that gets me most excited about this team is “uncompromisingly biblical”.  I am excited to be a part of this ministry, furthering the Kingdom of God.

What do you like to do when you aren't working at Camp?

Our family gets filled the most by spending time together.  If we could choose one activity to do as a family, it would be packing up the canoe and heading deep into the Boundary Waters.

Favorite Canteen treat?

I haven’t had the cotton candy here, but that is my all-time favorite candy!….all time favorite.

Favorite Camp song?

I’m not sure if it’s a “camp song”, but my all-time favorite song is “Great I Am.”

Favorite verse or passage of Scripture, and why?

Ephesians 2:8-9. “For by grace you have been saved, through faith-and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God- not by works, so that no one can boast.” God has made this amazing gift of eternal life, that is completely unattainable through my works, attainable.
