Intentional & Impactful

Women’s Retreats fill quickly each fall for good reason. Each weekend features gifted guest speakers, powerful worship, and relevant workshops, plus outdoor activities and craft projects led by our team of staff and volunteers.  Each year’s theme is planned intentionally to impact the lives of our guests, to challenge them in their faith walk, and to provide resources for further growth throughout the year.  Best of all, the retreats are served out in the generous love of Christ by Camp Lebanon’s women’s ministries staff who love to welcome old and new friends to fall retreats!

Theme & Speakers

"Stay Awake!"

The gospels record the reactions of people who sat at Jesus feet and heard his words first-hand: They were “astonished” and “amazed” at His teaching. This description uses a Greek word that literally means being “struck.” Jesus taught with a power and authority that the crowds had never before experienced. They never left the same. We invite you to come and “sit at the feet of Jesus” this fall as we lean in to listen to His words in the cultural context in which they were first spoken. May we, too, be astonished and amazed … and more importantly, changed!

2024 Women's Retreat Theme: Stay Awake
THEME:
"Stay AWAKE!"

“You are all children of light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then, let us not sleep, as others do, but let us stay awake and be sober.”

– 1 Thessalonians 4:5-6

Jesus promised that he would return for us! This is the most prominent theme in the book of 1 Thessalonians. In fact, it’s mentioned in every chapter! This was such an encouraging word of hope to the people as they faced opposition, persecution, and the dangers of errant teaching and philosophies. But more than a book of encouragement, 1 Thessalonians also teaches what it looks like to faithfully follow Jesus in our daily lives while we wait for His glorious and certain return.

Staying awake spiritually takes more than caffeine! Ultimately, pulling ourselves up by our bootstraps or trying harder in our own efforts is not enough to stave off the lethargy of sleep, the subtle influences of the darkness, and the struggles and challenges of discouragement. Living with hope and growing in maturity and grace is fueled by the power of the Holy Spirit. Abiding in such hope strengthens God’s people to endure whatever adversity we may face. Looking back to the cross and forward to his return is the focus we need to live patiently in the present, walking in love and holiness. And more, it motivates us to stay awake!
