Camp Journal: Falling for FALL!

Summer is a busy time of year, but our fall season changes things up by offering loads of weekend programmed events that keep our staff on their toes.  There is something for EVERYONE this fall - women, men, kids, seniors, youth groups, and quilters!

There is something truly spectacular about Camp Lebanon when fall season rolls around.  Summer is a busy time of year, but our fall season changes things up by offering loads of weekend programmed events that keep our staff on their toes.  There is something for EVERYONE this fall – women, men, families, seniors, youth groups, and quilters!

We’ll start off our “Septummer” with our last Family Camp of 2017 – Labor Day Weekend Family Camp.  This weekend almost always fills up by the beginning of the summer.  We love these families and can’t wait to spend the last bit of the summer season with them before jumping head first into fall!

The leaves are just starting to turn colors when Father-Daughter (& Grandpa) Retreat comes around, September 8-10.  We love this event so much – it is the only time we have horses at Camp (on loan to us from Camp Shamineau!), and we always have a great time on Saturday night with a banquet, usually with some kind of dress-up option.  This retreat is also special because it is the LAST SWIM OF THE SEASON!

Fall Seniors Retreat is up next – a time for lots of hymn-singing and fellowship! From September 11-14, we host a group of senior adults at Camp Lebanon, with the highlight of the retreat being September 12th, Senior Day, when 150+ seniors come up just for the day to have a meal together and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.  This retreat is such a blessing, and something the whole staff looks forward to in both spring and fall.

Then it’s time for Men’s and Women’s Retreats! September 15-17, men arrive at Camp for a weekend of shooting guns, eating great food, and gathering together to worship! This year, there will be another TED Talks format, with 8 different speakers talking about 8 different topics, for 15 minutes each!

The theme for our Fall Women’s Retreats is Just Breathe, and we are greatly anticipating a powerful message from our speaker for the retreat, Kirsten King , and the worship leader, Wendy Gordy.  Women’s Retreats are such a precious time of rest and refreshment away from the busy world – we love to see all of the women who return year after year and the new friends that join us!

Our fall season of events finishes up with Fall FIRE!  Senior High youth groups can come join us at Camp over MEA weekend (October 20-22).  This retreat provides youth groups and their leaders with time for bonding as the school year begins, building into an awesome school year of being on fire for Jesus.

We finish up our fall events in November (and early December) with Fall Quilt & Craft Camps!  No one ever expected the impact and the growth that our quilting ministry has experienced at Camp Lebanon, and we could not be more thankful for these extremely talented and creative ladies who come up to Camp throughout November to make beautiful pieces of art.

Our fall season at Camp Lebanon is packed with something for EVERYONE.  Please be praying as this huge variety of groups comes up to experience at Meeting Place with God!  We are so excited and so blessed to minister to all of these different people, and we can’t wait to share the stories that come out of this season with you.
