We are officially on Day #2 of Junior High 1! We can hardly believe it is only Day 2 for these Junior Highers. They truly have filled Camp with such joy, and we are excited for another full day of The Funnest Fun. We have lots of fun packed into the day, and we are just getting started! It is so exciting to see these campers diving right into everything the Lord and the staff have planned for their week. As we continue on throughout our day, may we not forget to be thankful for the way the Lord has designed each and every moment.
This beautiful Tuesday morning started out with Polar Dip at 7:45am. Although Junior Highers may not be as enthusiastic to jump in Cedar Lake first thing in the morning, we still had plenty of campers head down to the waterfront to participate. It is always so fun to capture the moment campers hit the water! After Polar Dip, everyone makes their way to the Ampitheatre for Flag Raising, Morning Movement, and breakfast. Even though most campers have just rolled out of bed for the day, laughter and smiles can always be found during Morning Movements! Can your camper tell you what they did for Morning Movement their first full day at Camp?
After breakfast, it was time for Morning Chapel! For Morning Chapels, we split guys and girls, and it is such a special time to worship and fellowship with other ladies and gentlemen! Once Chapel is done, it is Cabin Time! This time is so sweet – cabins get to bond and hang out together before free time. Generally, counselors can sign up for specific activities to do with their cabin, and it is always a great time. Then, after morning free time, we have lunch, and mail call! Staff families do skits for mail calls, and campers love to see our creativity and fun personalities shine through. Then, it was time for clinics and seminars, where campers get to choose to learn about a specific topic or activity that is fully designed and put together by our very own staff! We work tirelessly to prepare content that is valuable to campers, and to help lead them closer to Jesus.
Jesus is living here and now with YOU, but it all started in the beginning with creation.
Zach Klein
After clinics and seminars, it was finally free time! Free time is always a fan favorite among campers, because you get the freedom to roam around Camp, and pick what you would like to do! There’s so many options – Swimming, boating, Laser Tag, Zipline, Octoball, 4-Square, Carpetball, or just hanging out around Camp! There is truly a place for everyone here at Camp. Once the bell rung signifying that free time was over, we all met at the ampitheatre for flag lowering and dinner. Then it was time for a GAME! Called “Challenge Marathon,” the goal for campers was to go around to different stations and complete challenges posed by staff members in order to collect a piece of fabric. They then counted up all their pieces of fabric at the end, and the totaled fabric pieces all count for cabin points. It looked pretty fun!
After the game, it was time for Chapel, so we all made our way to the Main Hall. Our speaker for the week, Zach Klein, asked the campers what their first memory ever was. He then spoke about Genesis 1, and how it is the earliest “memory” in the Bible. But where is Jesus in the creation story? Well… Jesus, with God, created EVERYTHING. What a beautiful picture! All because He wanted to be with us.
TAKE CAMP HOME
Ask your camper what their first memory is. Can they tell you what the earliest “memory” is in the Bible? Where do they see God’s hands in the creation story? How does that affect the way they see His creation?
