Camp begins to wake up on the 3rd day of Senior High, and there’s a sense of eager anticipation that fills the air as campers start making their way down to the waterfront for Polar Dip! I take notice of the little things in God’s beautiful creation as I watch campers enjoy a long-time tradition here at Camp. The birds chirping almost as if they are saying “good morning,” the drops of dew from the rain last night settling on the grass, and the sun peaking through the clouds over the beautiful Cedar Lake.
As the ripples settle on Cedar Lake after these Senior Highers finish Polar Dip, we all meet at the Ampitheatre for Flag Raising, and breakfast. Then, after eating, it is time for the all-camp picture! As everyone disperses from the Steps of Faith, we transition to camper TAG time, where campers have intentional time to spend with God each day they are here at Camp. It is our prayer that they will continue this precious time even as they go home. After TAG time, we split guys/girls for Morning Chapel.
All of Camp then reunites for the hike to the North 40 to play a Camp-favorite game! A blast from the past – MIGHTY MIGHTY SCOOP NOODLE CHALLENGE! It is basically capture-the-flag, but Camp is divided into two teams, and the goal is to get to the opposite side to capture their noodles, soccer ball, and frisbee. The twist though, is that if you get tagged by a member of the opposite team while on their side, you have to sit and wait for a member of your team to come and tag you, then you must hold hands and skip to your side! It is VERY fun, and the North 40 was filled with lots of laughter and smiles! We had lunch up there, and then had to head back to Main Camp for Mail Call!
After Mail Call, it was Team Time, so everyone gathered up in their teams, and kept planning their skits for the “Mascot Challenge”! Then, it was finally time for Free Time! Campers have been loving this time to hang out together! Once the bell rings ending Free Time, we all meet at the Steps of Faith for Flag Lowering, where we get a first look at everyone’s outfits for our theme of tonight’s dinner: NEON! Camp was filled with lots of bright colors, and big smiles!! After eating dinner, it was evening Free Time, where cabins got all decked out in face paint for the Volleyball Tournament!
The LORD rewards every man for his righteousness and his faithfulness, for the LORD gave you into my hand today, and I would not put out my hand against the LORD’s anointed. Behold, as your life was precious this day in my sight, so may my life be precious in the sight of the LORD, and may he deliver me out of all tribulation.
1 Samuel 26 : 23-24
At 7pm, all of Camp made the trek for the second time to the North 40 for the Volleyball Tournament! While these Senior High campers are more fun-loving and laid-back, the Volleyball Tournament was still SO much fun, and these campers brought the life of the party! After Volleyball, it was time for Chapel, and our speaker, Pete talked about how we need to wait for God’s timing – even when we feel like we might know what’s best. He encouraged campers to rely on God and know that His plan is bigger and better than anything we can imagine or have planned out for ourselves.
TAKE CAMP HOME
Ask your camper about what they learned from Pete in Chapel last night. Are they fully relying on God and His perfect timing? What does it look like to wait on God?
We end the night with devotionals in each cabin, and then it will be time for lights out! After “lights out,” the girls had a fun bonding night in the Main Hall – A Glow Party! Whereas the guys met in the Tent for their combined guy cabin devos!
We’ve had busy days packed full of The Funnest Fun and these Senior Highers are loving every minute of it! Continue praying for these campers as they intentionally chase after the Father’s heart this week!
