Camp Lebanon LOVES Family Camp, and families love Camp! 2023 Summer Fun Family Weekend was no exception. Families showed up on Thursday ready and excited for The Funnest Fun, and the whole weekend was nothing short of it! The weekend started with a Hub Roast and a Welcome Chapel on Thursday – to introduce the staff and the speaker for the weekend – all the way from Ramsey, MN – Pastor Josh Underbakke!
Our Friday started out down at the waterfront with Polar Dip, where families could be found jumping into the lake to start their day. Then it was time for Flag Raising, breakfast, and Chapel. After that, it was Morning Free Time! Families could be found in the craft room, down at the beach, at the gazebo for Laser Tag, or up on the hill for BB guns and archery. Then it was time for lunch and Soccer World Cup up at the North 40. As Bobber Bill says, “whoever has the most FUN wins!” Lots of fun was had during soccer, so it’s safe to say that everyone won! After Flag Lowering and dinner, everyone made their way down to the waterfront for the Boat Races. Either in a canoe or a paddleboat, families raced each other across Cedar Lake and back! Once everyone was safely back to Camp, it was time to head into the Main Hall for Family Chapel, and then the Home Run Derby down at the Wiffleball Stadium. After everyone had their chance to hit as many homeruns as they possibly could, it was Teen Time, and then time for bed.
Our Saturday of Family Camp Weekend looked similar to Friday, but with even more fun packed in! After Polar Dip, Flag Raising, breakfast, Family Chapel, and Morning Free Time, it was time for the Carpetball Tournament! Families go all out for this event, and it was so fun to see their cheers and laughter. During Afternoon Free Time on Saturday, families could sign up to ride The Screamin’ Eagle Zipline – and it was a hit! After Flag Lowering and dinner, there was a big game of Dodgeball at the Sand Volleyball Court, and Krazy Kickball down at the Wiffleball Stadium – so fun!! Then, a Camp favorite – the Campfire! Action Songs, some worship, Gorilla Gets The Man, and a Lion Hunt?!
Camp had an absolute BLAST hosting these families for the 2023 Summer Fun Family Weekend! The memories, smiles and laughter will be held close to our hearts as these families head home, but they will also be preserved in photos for these families to look back on! These families created a new “game” during Krazy Kickball – while running to the bases, you have to do the Father Abraham dance! How fun!
