Adventurers – Day 1

We welcomed Adventurers to camp this morning and what a fun day we have had!!  The rain didn’t stop the campers or even slow them down.  We have been busy with Chapel, games and activities all day!

After checking in and meeting counselors and cabin friends, everyone gathered in the tent for Who’s Who, a time for campers to meet the staff!  Next, it was off to lunch where we had a tasty meal of chicken strips, macaroni and cheese, salad and a choice of apple or orange.

Everyone gathered to hear 10 rules for having The Funnest Fun at camp!  We also got to learn about how to play safely at the waterfront and fish from the docks!  We got to meet our speaker for the week, Bobber Bill, and hear five big Truths about God.

Campers had an opportunity to take their swim tests and try out different options around camp!  Some went fishing, some played Newcomb or Wiffleball while others played at the playground.  during free time, campers got an opportunity to choose where they spent their time.  Some played on the water front.  Others tried Octaball or got creative in the Craft Room.

Bobber Bill taught campers about five characteristics of God.  Ask your camper to share them with you!

  1. God is all powerful
  2. God is all knowing
  3. God is all present
  4. God is all good
  5. God is three in one

After free time, campers gathered at The Steps of Faith for flag lowering and got to meet our heros for the week in today’s character skit.  Next up was a delicious dinner (lasagna, garlic bread, salad and cheese cake for dessert!) before heading on Cabin Adventures.

Each cabin got to have their own adventure! Ask your camper what they did on theirs!  Did they dress up and have a tea party?  Did they go on an outdoor adventure?

Oh, there’s the bell ringing!  That means it’s time for the Staff Variety Show!  Our Summer Staff team has worked on some really hilarious skits to perform for campers tonight.  After the Variety Show, campers will have some free time and go to evening chapel before they head back to their cabins for a good night’s sleep and a busy, full day tomorrow.  Can’t wait!
