What a day! Facing hot temps and a fierce wind blowing directly in from left-center, Camp’s team of six sluggers (and an official score keeper) needed to persevere and push extra hard to help Camp swing back into summer youth ministry. As time expired at the end of 12 hours of hitting wiffleballs, the final tally came to 2,621 homers hit, 39 Bobber Bill homers, and 106 kiddie pool bonus shots!

$25,000 Raised!
The sluggers were hoping to top their 2020 total of 4,104 homers but the strong wind made it clear expectations needed to be altered. However, there’s no amount of wind that can slow our Mighty God down (just ask the wind and waves from Mark 4)! The wiffleball stats don’t compare to what the Lord did through the generosity and gifts of His people. The current count is $25,500+ raised for Camp, and people continue to give beyond what they pledged. Praise God!
“Oh, give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.”

So what is Camp going to do with the money that was raised?
Great question! The first $15,000 purchased a 40’ x 100’ tent and equipment needed to hold open air chapel for 180+ youth campers each week this summer. The tent was the key for accepting more kids during continuing COVID protocols, and has already been in full use! (see photos below)
The next $5,000 is set aside to help with the installation of a cable to rope for Hazzard Hill snowtubing, which will increase the delight in tubing and reach of guests for Camp. The additional $5,500+ will all be used as scholarship money to help kids and families come to Camp who may not have otherwise been able to afford it. We’ve already had some incredible stories of people being able to come this summer because of the money available! So amazing!
Bonus Bobber Bill Half-Time Show!
People also had the opportunity to give a “bonus pledge” for any home runs hit by Camp’s Executive Director, Bobber Bill, during a special 10 minute half-time show. By the time his turn came, each homer he hit was worth $54.10. Talk about pressure! But Bobber Bill was up to task and went on to hit 39 home runs, raising more than $2,000 for Camp.
